Categories and Repertoire

10-14-year-old pianists.

Each pianist will perform a repertoire not to exceed 15 minutes in length. 

The repertoire will consist of the works chosen by the pianist and one of the following works by Aram Khachaturian. 

• One piece from the “Album for Children No. 1 or No. 2”
• One movement from Sonatina in C major

(Junior Group Competitors may also choose a work by Khachaturian from Senior

Category’s suggested repertoire)

15-18-year-old pianists.

First Round: Each pianist will perform a repertoire not to exceed 15 minutes in length. The repertoire must include one virtuosic Etude by F. Chopin, F. Liszt, 

S. Rachmaninoff, A. Scriabin, C. Debussy or M. Moszkowski and the first movement of a Classical Sonata by J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart or L. v. Beethoven.

Final Round: Each pianist will perform a repertoire not to exceed 20 minutes in length. The repertoire will consist of the works chosen by the pianist and one of the following works by Aram Khachaturian.

• Toccata for Piano
• Poem for Piano
• Two pieces for Piano
• One work from “Seven Recitatives and Fugues” for Piano
• Vocalise for Piano
• One movement from "Sonata for Piano" (1961)
